You can do loads!

At the chateau:

  • We have 15 acres of woodlands and farmland for you to explore, and if you’re lucky you may catch a glimpse of some of our local deer grazing in the grounds too. During the evening relax in the grounds with a glass of wine or local cider and a delicious Evening Platter.

In Normandy:

  • Just 10 minutes down the road lies the beautiful historic fishing port of Honfleur, once popular with the impressionist artists such as Monet and Boudin in the 19th Century, it is just as charming today, be sure to explore its streets, visit  Eugène Boudin Museum and enjoy some of the local seafood delicacies.
  • You can’t come to Calvados and not try it’s famous liquor and we have several recommendations for local Cider and Calvados tours and tastings.
  • Calvados is also home to splendid seafront architecture – Deauville/Trouville are definitely worth a visit

WHEN WAS YOUR CHATEAU BUILT?

  • The Chateau Gonneville sur Honfleur dates back to 16th Century when there was a fortified castle on the grounds. The castles was destroyed in 1443 by the French king Charles VII as he tried to regain Normandy from the English King Henri VI. We believe the actual chateau was built in 1540 on the ruins of the ancient Manoir as a hunting lodge, a later 19th Century addition was then added
